Solar Panels at Merlo Coffee HQ
PRIORITISING SOLAR AT MERLO FACILITIES
With sustainability as an ongoing high priority of ours at Merlo, we are so thrilled to announce the addition of Solar Panels to our headquarters in Eagle Farm and Roastery in Bowen Hills.
Thanks to our friends at Proven Energy Management, we recently had 309 solar panels installed on the roof of our Warehouse. This large number of panels will allow us to offset the equivalent of 20 households' worth of annual energy (based on usage of 25kWh per household, per day).
In addition to solar at HQ, we have also had 212 panels installed at our Merlo Bowen Hills site, where our popular cafe and Roastery are run. These panels produce energy equivalent to a further 13 households.
We decided to invest in this source of renewable energy to further our contribution to the War on Waste. It is widely known that solar power benefits the environment through no direct greenhouse gas emissions.
The electricity produced from solar panels is made from sunlight rather than burning fossil fuels. As a renewable energy source, we will never run out of sunlight, and there is plenty of it to go around in sunny Queensland!
