For a long time we wouldn’t entertain the thought of capsule coffee as it never delivered against our high expectations of quality over format. But we persisted in the development of a better tasting capsule experience, trialling and trialling and trialling again, until we finally cracked it!
Thirty years go we set out to serve the freshest coffee available, roasted and delivered daily so you can experience the best tasting coffees from around the world. Back then, the coffee landscape was a simple offering - espresso and cappuccino with your choice of black or full cream milk, nothing else.
So much has changed since then; taste profiles, dietary needs, brewing methods and of course how and where we all enjoy our daily ritual.

THE JOURNEY
At the end of 2022, with three decades of coffee roasting experience behind us, we proudly launched the best tasting coffee capsules on the market.
Full flavoured, smooth finishing coffee in the convenience of a capsule, for when a barista isn’t close at hand.
Our artisan roasters painstakingly fine-tuned the roasting profile to accommodate the specifics of our capsule technology, balancing grind size, water ratios and extraction times to deliver against our high-quality standards.
We then apply multi-stage precision grinding and a sophisticated de-gassing and oxygen modified encapsulation process. We utilised recyclable aluminium capsules with seven layer micro-foiling, to extract and preserve Merlo’s signature flavour, and smooth lingering finish. It was a lot of work, but worth it for the outcome.
