As shameless coffee addicts, this is easily one of our favourite cocktails. It’s the perfect treat to pair with dessert—or to have instead of dessert.
Rich, creamy, and indulgent, this cocktail packs a caffeine kick to help you keep pace during the chaos of the festive season. It’s dangerously drinkable, thanks to its smooth mix of espresso, vodka, and Kahlua.
A home espresso machine gives the best crema, however you can still make a delicious espresso martini using any coffee brewing device.
WHAT YOU NEED
- Fresh coffee - any blend or single origin will do, our favourite is our Espresso Signature Blend
- Ice
- Cocktail shaker
- Martini glasses
This recipe is for a single serving, but it you’re making multiple servings, simply multiply the ingredients by the number of drinks you need.
- 30ml coffee liqueur such as Kahlúa
- 30ml vodka
- 30ml coffee (1 standard shot).
STEPS
- Brew the espresso and let it cool slightly. A home espresso machine gives the best crema, however you can still make a delicious espresso martini using any coffee brewing device.
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
- Add the vodka, coffee liqueur, and espresso shot. Shake in batches for the best froth.
- Shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. The harder you shake, the better the frothy top. For a creamier and frothier texture, optionally add a little egg white.
- Strain the mixture into a chilled martini glass.
- Garnish with 3 coffee beans on top.
Fun fact - the three beans are means to represent health, wealth and happiness.

Vanilla Espresso Martini
Add a splash of vanilla syrup or use vanilla vodka instead of plain vodka for a smooth, aromatic twist.
Mocha Espresso Martini
Stir in a teaspoon of chocolate syrup or use chocolate liqueur for a rich, chocolaty treat.
Spiced Espresso Martini
Add a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg, or even a splash of spiced rum, to warm up the flavours.
