I ordered 1kg of these beans based on tasting notes (and reviews) as I was seeking a replacement for another blend from Toby's Estate which is no longer available. The experience has been quite disappointing, starting with the delivery. Only 500g was supplied with no explanation or credit. Not a good start. The experience deteriorated further on brewing. The actual coffee produced was nothing like the description or reviews. Rather than "a perfect breakfast coffee for those who prefer a light-bodied start to the day" with apricot , honey and cacao notes, the results (with a range grind sizes and brew ratios) a very strong coffee with overwhelming dark chocolate notes (95% ) was produced. Either a different blend was bagged or the roasting process was problematic. It is one of the darkest roasts I have seen for a while.
Not a good start with Merlo :(
