Last Friday a group of us cupped a very rare and extremely sought after varietal of coffee - the Geisha Varietal. The coffee was grown at Finca La Candelilla in Costa Rica. We tried it as a light to medium roast as well as a medium to dark roast.

Below is my cupping results using SCAA protocol:
Fragrance/aroma 8.75, Flavour 8.75, Aftertaste 9, Acidity 8.75, Body 7.75, Balance 8.5, Uniformity 10 , Clean Cup 10, Sweetness 10, Overall 8.75, Total 90.25.
A score of 90.25/100 is a great result and definitely deserves being in the specialty coffee class.
Here are some of the Cupping notes:
Dried fruit fragrance with some cinnamon spice
Intense sweet honey aroma
Beautiful honey and florally lemon citrus flavour, that increased as the coffee cooled
Vibrant high citrus acidity
Raw sugar sweet finish and a great lingering mouth feel.
Well balanced single estate bean

We have very limited amounts of this coffee and you can purchase online at our limited edition section of the website. This coffee deserves to be tried and is equally as brilliant made by espresso methods or through a plunger or pourover.
